Jon Bowerbank Helps Out on Primary Day; Catch Him at the Convention!

On June 9, Jon brought a team of people from Russell County to northern Virginia in order to help two great Democrats, Judy Feder and Leslie Byrne, in their 10th and 11th CD primary contests for Congress. Jon and his crew sweated in the 100-degree heatwave, putting up signs, phone banking, greeting voters at the polls. etc. Of course, Jon also attended the "victory" parties afterwards on June 10 (primary day), meeting many of Judy's and Leslie's supporters. Although Leslie lost her race, Judy won, and will now take on Frank Wolf in a rematch that promises to be a barn burner. Jon will help Judy fight for (and win) that seat, as he will help Democrats all over the state in 2008.

Bowerbank Enters the Lt. Gov.'s Race

Jon Bowerbank, a businessman and member of the Russell County Board of Supervisors, filed papers with the state Board of Election to run for the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor in 2009.

Bowerbank, 48, is the founder and chief executive of EMATS Inc. in southwest Virginia, which designs and builds pipelines, roads and other infrastructure for utility and energy companies.

He said the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and the Republican party's failures nationally motivated him to get involved in politics. He has put in $75,000 of his own money to start hiring staff, and has been traveling around the state to meet people.

Russell Co. supervisor feels ready to run for state position
